Blog: [Weddings: Melanie and Drew]

I’m kind of obsessed with making sure that life is memorable. For some reason I have just always had an aversion to life being a “rat race.” I think that’s a huge reason why photography is so perfect for me. My job is to literally help people create and preserve memories. I seriously consider it a huge honor.

A few months ago, Melanie and Drew asked  me to capture their wedding day! I had a blast making sure they will never forget how awesome this day was!

At the reception of Melanie and Drew’s wedding, Drew told everyone about his first date with Melanie at a local coffee shop. He said after they finished their coffee he figured the date was probably over and he hoped he had been interesting enough to get a second date with her. As Drew was preparing to say their goodbyes, Melanie made it clear she wasn’t ready for the date to end. She flashed him her heartwarming smile and asked “So, what’s next??”

And the winners are…that’s right, I said WINNERS! PLURAL! As in, more than one!! Read on to find out how that happened 🙂

I decided to have my number one helper, Grace Maisie, help me draw the winner. Gracie was more than happy to help, as long as she could say Hi to our pups who were hanging out on the deck first.

Then she got down to business!

She got so wrapped up in the excitement that she tried to eat the winning name! I saved it just in time! Congratulations to….

THE MCMAHON FAMILY!! Jason, Cassandra, and William definitely deserved to win because between the 3 of them they got their names entered into the drawing 9 times! I think they realllly wanted to win!

McMahon family, you will receive a FREE session! I normally charge $95 for a session fee, but you won’t have to pay me a dime! After you see the photos from your session in an online gallery, you can decide if you want to purchase some of them!

When I told Grace she had done a great job and we were all done, this is how she responded…

I thought for a moment about how completely blown away I was by the love and support Shanna Fairley Photography received during this contest. I decided in that moment to keep spreading the love and draw for a second and third place winner!

Now when Grace drew the third place winner she accidentally picked up two names at the same time. So, naturally, there are now TWO third place winners!

Big congratulations for Becca Peterson and Donna Honeyman!! You will get to take 30% off your session fee! WOOHOO!

I thought for sure Grace would be satisfied with having 4 winners. But she still wasn’t havin’ it.

As I looked at the GIANT pile of names that we drew the winners from I felt my heart get all warm and fuzzy when I remembered the kind words of encouragement I received during this contest.

I LOVE being a photographer. And I get to be a photographer because of YOU.

As a way to show my appreciation to everyone who entered the contest I am going to offer you the opportunity to take 20% off you next session fee if you book something with me by July 1st. The session can be for any date in 2013, you just have to book it by July 1st! It’s ok if you don’t know an exact date for when you would want your session to be. Just get a spot reserved by mailing your session fee! For example, if you KNOW you are going to want photos taken sometime in the fall just mail me your session fee BEFORE July 1st and then we’ll nail down a date when it gets a little closer!
